Dimethylphenylpiperazinium on the Isolated Auricle of the Tortoise

Abstract
1) Dimethylphenylpjperazinium (DMPP) caused an inhibition of atrial movements follolved of an augmentation. The inhibitory effect seems to be due to its action on the parasympathetic ganglia and the augmentatory one on the sympathetic postgan91ionic synapse.
2) The DMPP effects were blocked by pretreating auricles with DMPP.
3) The response to DMPP was varied by seasonal change. The auricles of the winter tortoise reacted with more marked inhibitory effect and less excitatory effect than the summer tortoise.
